- 01. Maintaining the Voters' Register up to date
In terms of the Voters' Registration Act No. 44 of 1980 as amended by the Voters' Registration (Amendment) Act No. 22 of 2021, all Sri Lankan citizens who have attained the age of 18 years as on 01 February of the relevant year, who are eligible under the said Act and who are ordinarily resident in the relevant area/district shall maintain their names in the Voters' Register by completing the ER form issued annually by the Election Commission to the Grama Niladhari/Enumeration Officer of the division in which they reside and submitting it with the signature of the head of the household.
- 02. Registration of Young Citizens in the Voters' Register
All Sri Lankan citizens who are eligible under the said Act and who have attained the age of 16 years as on 01st February of the relevant year and who are ordinarily resident in the relevant area/domain should complete the YC form issued annually by the Election Commission to the Grama Niladhari/Enumeration Officer of the division in which they reside and submit it with the signature of the head of the household and a copy of the National Identity Card or Birth Certificate.
- 03. Registration of Temporary Residents
All persons who are temporarily or on any basis maintaining a regular residence and staying overnight in the Sri Jayewardenepura Divisional Secretariat Division should record the information in the official form issued by the Police Department in terms of Section 76 of the Police Ordinance No. 16 of 1865 and submit two copies to the OIC of the relevant police station. A photocopy of the form issued by the police station with a note stating that it has been accepted with the official seal should be submitted to the Grama Niladhari of the division in which one resides.
